Retail security and loss prevention

Retail security is a balancing act: deter shoplifting without making honest customers feel watched. Our store detectives and uniformed guards are trained in both, loss prevention and customer service in the same person.

What our retail security officers do on the shop floor

Stock that stays on the shelf

Targeted floor presence at the hours and aisles where loss actually happens, informed by your own EPOS data.

Trained to talk to customers

Officers are trained to greet, assist and de-escalate. A hostile guard costs more in lost sales than shrinkage.

Store detective option

Plain-clothes officers for persistent organised theft, working to evidential standards for prosecution.

Multi-site consistency

One standard, one reporting format and one account manager across every store in the estate.

How it works

  • Free site survey. A security consultant walks your premises, or reviews plans and imagery when you need cover today. No charge, no obligation.
  • Written risk assessment. You get a documented assessment of your actual weak points, not a list of everything we sell.
  • Fixed, itemised quote. One price, broken down, with no uplift for nights, weekends or bank holidays. What we quote is what you pay.
  • Vetted officers on site. BS7858 screened, SIA licensed officers inducted on your premises, with a named account manager from day one.

Retail Security questions

Do you provide plain-clothes store detectives?

Yes. Plain-clothes officers are effective against organised retail crime and repeat offenders, and work to evidential standards so cases stand up if you pursue prosecution.

Can you cover seasonal peaks only?

Yes. Many retail clients scale up for Christmas, sale periods and refits, then scale back. There is no requirement to hold cover year-round.

How much does a retail security guard cost?

Rates depend on store hours, footfall and whether you want a uniformed presence or a plain-clothes store detective. We quote a fixed hourly rate with no uplift for late-night trading or bank holidays.

Should I use a uniformed guard or a store detective?

A uniform deters opportunists before they start. A store detective catches the organised and repeat offenders a uniform does not put off. Larger stores often need both, and we will say if yours does not.
